The symptom brain dump method
Most of us walk into appointments with a mental list of things that have been bothering us β and then promptly forget half of them the moment we're in the room. Or we bring up so many things that nothing gets addressed properly.
Here's a system that changes that.
Step 1: The brain dump
Set a timer for 10 minutes. Write down everything that's been bothering you, physically or otherwise. Don't edit, don't filter, don't prioritize yet. Just get it all out.
Step 2: Group by body system or theme
Take your list and cluster related items:
Step 3: Pick your top 3
You can't address everything in one appointment. Which three items concern you most? Which ones are most impacting your quality of life?
Step 4: Add context to each
For each of your top 3:
Step 5: Write your opening sentence
Prepare the first thing you're going to say. Something like:
My main concern today is [symptom]. It's been going on for [duration] and it's affecting my [daily life/work/sleep]. I also want to briefly mention [concerns 2 and 3] if we have time.
The result
You walk in focused. Your doctor knows exactly what you're there for. Nothing important gets forgotten. And you leave with actual answers.
This is what we build in every WHIN session β your personalized symptom summary, your question list, and your appointment game plan.
